GBOB Challenge 2007 - Global Battle of the Bands
Army of Three is in the Qualifying Heats! Come and support us!
And GBOB is achieving its aims…
The very first GBOB World Final took place in December 2004 and the winners, Spanish indie band Second, have since signed a publishing deal with EMI Publishing and a major recording contract with WEA/Warner Brothers label DRO Atlantic.
2005 World Final winners, grunge rockers Kopek from Ireland have been signed by New York-based artist manager Thomas Valentino who steered Kid Rock to fame. The band have just finished recording some new tracks in Los Angeles with top producer Danny Saber (U2, Marilyn Manson, David Bowie etc). Their recent debut single went top 20 in Ireland and we expect big things for them.
Meanwhile rocking hip hop outfit Heavy Mojo from the USA, the winners of the 2006 World Final, have just been signed to a major recording contract by SRC Universal Motown. Band spokesman David Beame says: “The legendary Steve Rifkind saw a DVD of the band’s performance at the GBOB World Finals in London and offered the deal on the spot!”.
GBOB has very quickly gained a reputation for helping to break new bands.
From 16 countries in 2004 to 30 countries in 2007, GBOB – the world’s biggest live talent competition for pop and rock bands – is getting bigger and better all the time.
Forget about artificial Pop Idol-style competitions and all the other glorified karaoke rubbish out there, this is the real deal for real bands playing real music - live. There are just two rules: no cover versions and no pre-recorded music.
Every year Local Qualifying Heats and National Finals take place in many countries around the world, with the eventual winners of these going forward to The GBOB World Final. The 2007 World Final take place over three days in London from December 4-6 - for tickets click here
